DESCRIPTION:Have you ever made a mistake in your professional life? Well t
hen\, you're in good company! At FUN Cam we celebrate and examine failure
in all its forms.\n\nPlease join us for the first ever FUN Cam event on Th
ursday\, September 14th 2017 to hear successful social innovators bare the
ir biggest blunders. The evening will be full of interesting talks\, netwo
rking\, drinks and of course\, FUN. Get your ticket at Eventbrite: https:/
 /www.eventbrite.com/e/fun-cambridge-tickets-36739457707\n\nThe speakers fo
r our first edition are:\n\n* Nick Sireau (Cambridge)\, a serial social en
trepreneur\, focusing on sustainable energy and health care. He was the fo
unding CEO of SolarAid\, which fights global poverty and climate change. R
ecently\, he started a new charity\, called the OCD Research Partnership\,
in order to focus on mental health. With more than 15 years experience in
the non-profit sector\, starting up new initiatives\, Nick knows about th
e challenges of doing good.\n\n\n* Christiaan Maats (Amsterdam)\, an entre
preneur\, educator and product- and concept developer. While finishing his
master's Integrated Product Design at the TU Delft\, he developed the sto
ry of OAT: the world's first biodegradable shoes that bloom. Plant them af
ter they're worn down and flowers will bloom from your old sneakers. He wi
ll tell the story of the blooming and undoing of OAT.\n\n* Belinda Bell (C
ambridge)\, Program Director of Cambridge Social Ventures\, an incubator t
hat provides specialist support for social ventures. Belinda is a social e
ntrepreneur herself having established a range of social ventures over the
last decade including those focusing on finance\, ageing and young people
. She will tell how turning a blind \neye once almost ruined a whole organ
isation. \n\nSuccess stories of social ventures are popular and receive g
reat press\, but failure is also integral in this field. FUN Cam exists to
facilitate and share failure stories of social enterprises and businesses
located in the Cambridge area\, with a focus on social innovators\, scien
tists and entrepreneurs. #freethefailure #sharethefailure\n\nWhat is a FUN
?\n\nFuckup Nights is a global movement born in Mexico in 2012 to publicly
share business failure stories. \nIn every Fuckup Night 3 or 4 speakers t
ell their failure story: What was the project? What went wrong? What did t
hey learn? What would they do differently? Each speaker is given 7 minutes
and is able to use 10 images. After each speaker\, there's a question/ans
wer session\, as well as time for networking (beers)." ~ https://fuckupnig
