DESCRIPTION:Several recent experiments have provided evidence for the appe
 arance\nof macroscopic coherence in polaritonic systems with a spontaneous
 \nsymmetry breaking mechanism which is the non-equilibrium analog of the\n
 Bose-Einstein condensation phase transtion.\n\nIn this seminar\, we shall 
 review our theoretical results on\nseveral aspects of this non-equilibrium
  phase transition\, and we shall\ntry to evidentiate analogies and differe
 nces from the usual BEC at\nequilibrium.\n\nSome among the principal aspec
 ts of the transition will be addressed\,\nsuch as its order\, the behaviou
 r of the coherence functions around the\ncritical point\, the shape of the
  condensate in real and momentum space\,\nthe diffusive nature of the Gold
 stone mode\, and the quasi-condensation\nissues in reduced dimensionalitie
 s.\n\nExperimental schemes able to probe all these features with current\n
 semiconductor optics set-ups will be discussed and comparison will be\nmad
 e with available experimental data.\n
