DESCRIPTION:The precise measurements of heavy quark production at the LHC 
 offer a unique opportunity to test the corresponding predictions in pertur
 bative QCD. I investigate how the precise measurements of D and B hadrons 
 at large\nrapidities (primarily at LHCb) can provide unique information on
  the internal structure of the proton. After showing how this data leads t
 o an improved description of parton distribution functions at low-x\, I di
 scuss\nhow this information has applications for neutrino astronomy.
