DESCRIPTION:Lord Kelvin initiated the study of knotted vortices with his v
 ortex theory of atoms in the mid-nineteenth century. Today knotted vortex 
 strings are being studied in a range of systems. Examples will be presente
 d from physics\, chemistry and biology. A potential application to knot un
 tangling will also be discussed.
