DESCRIPTION:Birational classification of Fano 3-folds\, post MMP\, remains
  a challenging problem in modern geometry. I will talk about the foundatio
 ns of this problem and lay out a suggestive programme for such classificat
 ion. This programme involves various questions on birational rigidity and 
 irrationality of 3-folds. I will connect some of the known conjectures\, w
 hich sit naturally in this programme\, with new (stable) irrationality res
 ults.
