DESCRIPTION:Extrasolar planets are expected to emit low-frequency radio wa
 ves. The detection of this emission will allow us new insights into some p
 roperties of extrasolar planets that will be hard to determine by other me
 ans.\n\nI will review the basic processes for the radio emission\, and how
  the level of emission scales with the very wide range of planetary and st
 ellar parameters expected for extrasolar planets. I will also review the v
 arious low frequency searches that have been made for extrasolar planets w
 ith the VLA and GMRT\, and discuss the future for the subject with the arr
 ival of LOFAR.
