DESCRIPTION:In the last 20 years\, the COPPE-UFRJ centrifuge modelling gro
up has pioneered multiple gravity physical modelling in Brazil\, comprisin
g drum and beam centrifuges. Recently\, simulations covering the lateral\,
vertical and axial response of risers at the touch down point were undert
aken under the auspices of Technip/FMC. In addition to this subject\, stud
ies on the behaviour of pipelines buried in compressive soils and in soils
subject to mass movements were conducted in collaboration with PETROBRAS.
\n\nIn 2015\, a new research topic on the instability of submarine clay sl
opes under seismic loading was initiated in cooperation with IFFSTAR and P
ETROBRAS to understand the effect of topography on seismic response. Addit
ional study covers the physical modelling of a debris flow in a submarine
environment using a drum centrifuge for run-out simulations. In parallel\,
rheological studies were undertaken to help understand the importance of
these parameters in the overall phenomena.\n
