DESCRIPTION:Many businesses today have become existentially dependent on o
pen source software and in some cases (such as Arm) projects to which they
must contribute. Since the publication of The GNU Manifesto in 1985 (http
://www.gnu.org/gnu/manifesto.en.html) much has changed and open source sof
tware development is now more than 80% funded by business. In this talk I
will examine open source and open source-based business through a business
  lens\, appealing to simple micro-economic\, and well-established legal\,
concepts. This talk should interest the entrepreneurially minded as well a
s those intending to join a corporation for those who see their future in
shaping open source communities there might be a challenge or two. While t
he driving force behind my work has been open source software\, especially
software development tools\, I will comment briefly on some issues around
  documentation and hardware.
