DESCRIPTION:Generation of representative topologies at the Autonomous Syst
em (AS) and router-level is important for research into properties of the
Internet and its applications. There are a large number of models and tool
s available for doing so\, each claiming to produce representative connect
ivity graphs. In this talk we present an evaluation of topologies generate
d at AS and router level by such tools. We compare these synthetic topolog
ies with those of the Internet AS-level and router-level and corporate net
works' topologies. We focus on various graph theory metrics for comparison
of general graphs. Such analysis enables us to establish the necessity of
a topology generator which provides realistic end-to-end topologies of th
 e Internet for research.\n
