DESCRIPTION:We are joined by Andy Mellors\, Managing Director of the South
  Western Railway to talk to us about the UK's largest franchaise\, coverin
 g the South and South West of Britain. The SWR was recently awarded the fr
 anchase and have some exciting plans\, building on the exceptional predigr
 ee of South West Trains. Andy is an engineer by training and we shall be h
 earing about the plans First Group/MTR hold for the line\, reasoning behin
 d ordering a new fleet of trains to replace the current new fleet of train
 s\, the operational challenges of the large geographical area and no doubt
  about the superb graduate oppurtunies available within SWR and First Grou
 p.\n\n \n\nMixed audience\, from many different subject areas. All welcome

 RC :\n\nFounded in 1911 from the Cambridge University branch of The Railwa
 y Club\, the CURC is the second oldest railway enthusiast club in Britain!
  The CURC tries to arrange an event in Cambridge every week during Full Te
 rm. On most Wednesdays or Fridays this involves an invited speaker giving 
 an illustrated talk on a specific subject\, and this is almost always a pr
 ofessional from the rail industry or preservation. We’ve had big names i
 n the past\, including senior managers from several Train Operating Compan
 ies.\n\nWe also visit railway sites termly including depots\, signalling c
 entres and industrial railways for members.\n\nWe give you a chance to mee
 t the top employers from across the industry and have huge success in our 
 members going onto top Graduate employment within the railway industry…w
 hether HS2 \, Balfour Beatty\, Crosscountry\, Network Rail\, DfT etc…\n\
 nMembership for students costs £10 per year or £25 for life membership.
