DESCRIPTION:CAUV stands for Cambridge Autonomus Underwater Vehicle\, it is
a student developed autonomous submarine\, with multiple capabilities. Th
e initial design criteria was for a small ROV to inspect the underside of
pancake ice flows in the arctic. Developing an AUV that could perform this
task remains our long term goal. However\, our immediate challenge is the
SAUC-e competition.\n\nThe design of CAUV is light compact and sleek\, at
under 6kg it could easily be carried around in a flight case for easy dep
loyment. However by taking advantage of the resent size reduction in elect
ronics and batteries\, CAUV also packs a punch\, with an endurence of a fe
w hours\, and a 1Ghz computer the size of a playing card\, CAUV will have
the brains to tackle a variety of missions.
