 regulation has the potential to impact a broad range of biological endeavo
 urs\, such as improving our understanding of genetic diseases. \nIn this t
 alk I will review state of art techniques to identify such relations betwe
 en SNPs and gene expression levels and introduce a new model that signific
 antly improves the statistical power of eQTL studies by explicitly account
 ing for non-genetic factors.\n\n\n
