DESCRIPTION:Resource recovery from wastewater increasingly relies on the a
ctions of a complex community of anaerobic microbes. My group is identifyi
ng routes for the optimisation of biogas production from organic waste\, w
ith the long-term goal of identifying means of\nmanipulating these communi
ties at scale. We are mapping microbial community changes\nusing a variety
of ‘omics approaches. In this seminar\, I will discuss how nanopore seq
uencing and machine learning are enhancing our metagenomics analyses\, our
initial foray into untargeted metabolomics and\, how high throughput grow
th screens could be applied to microbial community optimisation. \n
