DESCRIPTION:The speed and extent of spread of an epidemic are determined b
 y \nthe behaviour of the population through which it passes\; however\, \n
understanding\, measuring\, and accouting for the complexities of populati
on \nbehaviour are challenging problems. Here\, we look at contact network
s as \ntools to represent human mixing patterns\, using an unusually detai
led \ndataset to explore some of the social factors that influence disease
\nspread. Considering the example of Cassanova\, Henry VIII\, and the Mor
 mons\, \nwe identify gaps in our models.\n\n
