DESCRIPTION:Google is developing a car that will make human drivers a thin
 g of the past.\n\nAdvances in nanoscience are promising to revolutionise t
 he pharmaceutical industry.\n\nOver the next few decades\, the continued d
 evelopment of dual-use technologies will provide major benefits to society
 . They will also pose significant and unprecedented global risks\, includi
 ng risks of new weapons of mass destruction\, arms races\, or the accident
 al deaths of billions of people.\n\nA growing number of experts are demand
 ing more research into the potentially significant risk that modern techno
 logy will pose to the human race (existential risk).\n\nFuture of Sentienc
 e Cambridge (FuSe) and Cambridge University Physics Society are delighted 
 to host a panel including the cosmologist\,ex-master of Trinity College\, 
 and co-founder of the Centre for the Study of Existential Risk\, Lord Mart
 in Rees\, to discuss existential risk and why he\, and many others\, belie
 ve that we are not taking it seriously enough.\n\nThis event is especially
  useful as an introduction to this fascinating topic.
