DESCRIPTION:The IUPAC Subcommittee for Kinetics Data Evaluation for Atmosp
heric Chemistry have extended the scope of the treatment of evaluated dat
a for heterogeneous reactions on their website: http://www.iupac-kinetic.c
h.cam.ac.uk/. The Subcommittee are now in the process of preparing and pr
esenting data sheets in which the relevant data for heterogeneous processe
s are evaluated and recommendations are made for parameters describing the
kinetics of these processes under atmospheric conditions. \n\nA detailed
introduction to heterogeneous reactions has been prepared by members of th
e Subcommittee and is available on the website as a guide to the data shee
ts. This document provides background information on the models and defini
tions of the parameters used in these evaluations. It also provides the r
ationale for the organisation of the material presented. Summary sheets co
ntaining the recommended parameters are also present.\n\nSome of the new d
ata relating to uptake and reaction on ice surfaces of species involved in
the chemistry of ozone in the Upper Tropospher and lower stratosphere wil
l be presented.\n\nOther IUPAC Members: Dr Markus Ammann\, Paul Scherrer I
