  group will submit an entry for the best paper they have read this term.  
 We will have very a brief presentation on as many as we can fit in to 30 m
 inutes.\n\n\nResearch talk: A primer on physical layer collaborative commu
 nication\, Ioannis Chatzigeorgiou and Weisi Guo\n\nIn wireless communicati
 on networks\, mutlipath fading is a severe impairment which can be mitigat
 ed through the use of diversity. Space diversity based on the use of multi
 ple antennas can be readily combined with time and frequency diversity\; h
 owever\, the terminals may not be able to  support multiple antennas due t
 o physical constraints. An alternative means of transmit diversity is user
  cooperation\, according to which each user “overhears” its partners a
 nd relays their data to the destination. In this\ntalk we compare the perf
 ormance of coded cooperation in a slow fading environment and discuss powe
 r allocation and partner selection schemes.
