DESCRIPTION:Abstract:\nSoon most of us will all have our DNA sequenced one
way or another. This will be the age of personal genomics\, where each pe
rson has their own genomic data\, but what will we do with this and how wi
ll it change society? Current efforts to take advantage of mass genomic da
ta focus on medical cohorts and association studies. These studies (called
GWAS) are based on straightforward statistics in principle\, but I will t
alk about more complex computational approaches using molecular biology da
ta that have the potential to transform what can be done with genomic data
. I will also discuss the importance to personal genomics of studying the
healthy individual\, the commercial space and future impacts on society.\n
