DESCRIPTION:What motivates us as mathematicians? Ours is one of the few pr
ofessions where we enjoy our job so much that we'd probably do it for free
. Our dedication and determination to solve mathematical problems is one o
f our greatest strengths\, but can also be our undoing. Our ability for ex
treme focus is a double-edged sword\; on the one hand it makes us excellen
t problem solvers\, on the other hand it restricts our capacity to see the
broader implications and consequences of our work.
