DESCRIPTION:Mathematicians have taken it upon themselves at several points
in history to work for the betterment of the human race. We have applied
our specialised skills and abilities to solve problems of large social\, e
conomic and political importance. These highly complex solutions that we d
evelop can have\, and often have had\, unintended consequences far beyond
their original design. This often comes about because mathematicians fail
to think ahead and ask the question "What am I making\, and what else can
 it be used for?"
