DESCRIPTION:Compensated compactness is a functional-analytic framework whi
ch deals with the following problem: given a weakly convergent sequence of
functions\, what can we say about the limit of this sequence when we appl
y to it a nonlinear functional? This is a typical setup in nonlinear PDE\,
where we try to get approximate solutions and hope that they converge to
a true solution. We will discuss the div-curl lemma\, Young measures and a
 pplications to PDEs.
