DESCRIPTION:There is a lot of research on how to support data wrangling -
the way we transform data in preparation for analysing it - and its associ
ated challenges. But what about difficulties that can’t be solved by wra
ngling\, such as missing data\, or a fundamental mismatch between the sche
ma of the data and the questions we want to ask?\n\nIn this talk I will pr
esent my work as an intern at the Alan Turing Institute. I will briefly de
scribe the autoethnographically-informed study I ran exploring these chall
enges. I will then discuss the set of problems with the data that we encou
ntered and argue the need to create a vocabulary for talking about these i
 ssues.\n
