DESCRIPTION:The Large Deformation Diffeomorphic Metric Mapping (LDDMM) alg
orithms rely on a sub-Riemannian metric on the diffeomorphism group with s
trong smoothness requirements. This talk will describe a series of simple
simulations illustrating the effect of such metrics when considering\, in
particular\, the motion of rigid objects subject to the associated least a
ction principle. It will also show why modifications of this metric can be
useful in some cases\, with some examples provided.
