DESCRIPTION:Over 140 Cambridge students have taken the Giving What We Can 
 pledge to donate >10 % of their income to effective causes for the rest of
  their working life. We’ll hear from three of them at this event.\n\nThr
 ee current and former Cambridge students will briefly talk about why they 
 made this decision and how they find actually acting on it. There’ll be 
 plenty of time for questions and discussion\, with free food and drinks. \
 n\nMany thoughts may cross your mind when you hear about this 10% pledge:\
 n- Is that actually going to change anything?\n- A “pledge” sounds unn
 ecessary\n- What is an “effective cause”?\n- 10% sounds like a lot\, I
  don’t even have a job yet.\n\nWe’ll be discussing difficult questions
  and choices like this in a relaxed environment. We hope you’ll leave fe
 eling inspired that we do have opportunities to change things for the bett
 er. Hope to see you there!\n\nThis event is in the office for the Centre f
 or the Study of Existential Risk\, just across the road from the Mill Lane
  lecture rooms - it'll be well sign-posted. Please note the start-time may
  change\, but it will be about 7 or 8pm.\n\nAs always\, this event is open
  to all\, regardless of affiliation with the University of Cambridge.
