DESCRIPTION:<span>Paul Klee was one of the most prolific and original pain
ters of the first half of the 20th century. Although he was influenced by
Picasso\, Kandinsky\, and other contemporary artists\, and engaged with <i
 >Der Blaue Ritter</i>\, he forged his own artistic path apart from the cur
rents such as cubism or surrealism. He was a dedicated art teacher\, and l
eft extensive notes for his lectures at the Bauhaus (1921-31). The notes w
ere published in two volumes <i>The Thinking Eye</i> and <i>The Nature of
 Nature</i>\, and constitute\, in effect\, Klee&rsquo\;s treatise on geomet
rical aspects of forms\, perspective\, motion and its depiction\, growth\,
and many other topics. This presentation is a selective consideration of
Klee&rsquo\;s recurring themes and a na&iuml\;ve attempt to organise them
according to their mathematical and physical concepts.</span>
