DESCRIPTION:The Cambridge University Post-Conflict and Post-Crisis Group i
 s convening a two-day conference from 25-27 June 2008\, entitled The Cultu
 re of Reconstruction: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on the Aftermath of C
 risis.  \n\nThis conference is intended to be inter-disciplinary and inter
 -practice\, bringing policy makers and practitioners to the table in order
  to enable an exchange between those designing and implementing post-crisi
 s interventions and those researching these situations. Lord Paddy Ashdown
  will be the keynote speaker for the conference.\n\nPanels will be organis
 ed in such a way as to encourage discussion across disciplines and methodo
 logies. The panels topics being suggested are the following: the culture o
 f reconstruction\; accountability and stakeholders\; the politics of space
  and security\; reconstructing culture\; identity\, religion and heritage\
 ; mourning and memorialisation\; ownership and capacity building\; governi
 ng affect: Panels will be organised in such a way as to encourage discussi
 on across disciplines and approaches\, focusing on the following proposed 
 topics:  truth\, guilt and legitimacy. \n\nWe are soliciting contributions
  addressing the complexity and nuances of theories\, methods and case stud
 ies in post-crisis reconstruction work. Contributions may include academic
  papers (20 minutes long)\, posters\, or other creative work (i.e. documen
 taries\, photography.) Lord Ashdown will be the inaugural lecture of the c
 onference.\n\nDeadline for proposals is 22 February 2008\; acceptance will
  follow shortly afterwards.  \n\nPlease send 500-word paper and poster pro
 posals (including full contact information and a brief academic biography)
