DESCRIPTION:We discuss how diagrammatically defined algebras (arising from
physics and knot theory) can be used to solve classical problems in the r
epresentation theory of reflection and matrix groups. Depending on the whi
m of the speaker\, we will discuss either: recent advances in our understa
nding of the Kronecker and Plethysm coefficients via Schur-Weyl duality\,
or the structure of simple modules of complex reflection groups and their
 deformations.
