DESCRIPTION:Glassy materials are those in which the diffusive motion of at
oms and molecules becomes very slow\, when the temperature is reduced. Th
ere a range of simple physical models that aim to reproduce and explain th
e phenomena that occur in such materials. We analyse dynamical fluctuatio
ns in some of these models using large deviation theory. This reveals sev
eral dynamical phase transitions. We analyse some properties of these pha
se transitions and discuss their implications for theories of the glass tr
 ansition.
