DESCRIPTION:Psychedelic compounds such as psilocybin (magic mushrooms) and
  DMT (ayahuasca) have been used for hundreds of years by certain cultures 
 and are now being re-investgiated for their therapeutic potential. This ta
 lk will address the basic pharmacology of psychedelics\, plus their effect
 s on brain dynamics and behaviour. A model is presented on how psychedelic
 s alter brain function to alter mental function and behaviour\, and how th
 is may render them therapeutically and experimentally useful.
