DESCRIPTION:Transport planning and land use planning are intimately connec
ted and transport planning is based on a well-tested and sophisticated set
of techniques. However the world of transport is expected to change more
in the next ten or twenty years than it has in the last century: are trans
port planners\, and the tools they use\, ready for the changes ahead? This
seminar will look at some of the changes that technology will bring to tr
ansport such as Electrification\, Connectivity and Automation and ask what
how planners might need to change their thinking to accommodate them.\n\n
Paul Campion is the CEO of the Transport Systems Catapult. He took over th
is role in July 2017. Previously he successfully ran various businesses fo
 r IBM\, working at UK\, European and Worldwide level based\, variously\, i
n London\, Paris\, New York and Zurich. His experience in transforming com
panies\, large and small\, with the application of technology is directly
relevant to the challenge of helping to grow UK business and employment by
translating the UK’s world-leading research into commercial innovation.
