DESCRIPTION:Murray Shanahan is a Professor of Cognitive Robotics at Imperi
 al College London\, and a Senior Research Scientist at Google DeepMind. Hi
 s fascinating work tackles some of the ‘big questions’\, such as the p
 rinciples that underlie cognition and consciousness\, the implications of 
 artificial intelligence\, and the singularity. Professor Shanahan is also 
 on the advisory board of the Cambridge Centre for the Study of Existential
  Risk\, which researches ‘breakout artificial intelligence’\, among th
 e greatest threats facing humanity. Excitingly\, Professor Shanahan was a 
 scientific advisor for Alex Garland’s brilliant and acclaimed film Ex Ma
 china\, which might be fun ‘preparatory reading’! \n\nThis is another 
 not-to-be-missed talk for anyone interested in artificial intelligence\, o
