The Cambridge Mathematics of Information Student Seminar Series (CMI S^3) is a student-organised seminar series, with the goal of providing a forum for PhD students and others to present aspects of their research in a more informal and discursive setting.
Talks are 45mins in length to allow plenty of time for questions and discussions. We also encourage speakers to pitch their talk at a more general audience, reflecting the breadth and diversity of the CMI programme and the maths departments in general. However, the seminar is designed to be in service to the students, so even if you would like to offer a more technical talk please don’t hesitate to get involved!
Some ideas for talks:
- Have you recently read a fascinating paper in your area of research, and think more people should know about these results? This is a great venue to spread the word!
- Are there some folklore results in your field which everyone seems to throw around, but you never really understood? Giving a talk is a great way of learning new material!
- Got a talk upcoming at a conference or seminar? CMI S ^3 is the perfect opportunity to polish up your presentation!
The seminar will take place on Wednesdays, 2-3pm.
