Horizon Forum: The Cell-Materials Interface
26th June, Centre for Mathematical Sciences
Attendance is free but Registration is required. To register please email horizon.forum [at] rsd.cam.ac.uk with your name and department
This exciting interdisciplinary conference will examine research at the Cell-Material interface and features researchers from a variety of disciplines â e.g. physics, chemistry, material science and biology. Eminent speakers will describe the latest research looking at how cells respond to or are influenced by natural (e.g. extra-cellular matrix) and artificial surfaces, as well as highlighting new methods for doing so. Research at the cell-material interface is vital in shedding light on cell fate decisions as well as in directing development. On a more applied level, knowledge of how cells are influenced by surface interactions is vital in designing materials to promote bone and nerve regrowth and in other medical applications such as sensor design.
The day promises to be essential for scientists with an interest in the way cells interact with and respond to surfaces, materials and growth factors.
