Oxidative Stress Defences in Cancer
- đ¤ Speaker: Professor Joan Brugge, Louise Foote Pfeiffer Professor of Cell Biology and Director of the Ludwig Centre at Harvard University
- đ Date & Time: Tuesday 06 February 2018, 14:30 - 15:30
- đ Venue: Clifford Albutt Lecture theatre, Clinical School
Abstract
Cancer cells are subjected to numerous cellular insults, but have evolved mechanisms that allow them to survive, amongst other things, high levels of Oxidative Stress. Professor Brugge in her lecture will discuss novel unconventional mechanisms of redox adaptation that enable cancer cells to survive oxidative stress that may also significantly impact the development of chemoresistance during chemotherapy.
