Abstract
Nuclear power stations are always controversial; do you support or oppose the use of nuclear energy as one of the ways to provide electricity? A new nuclear paradigm, Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) are a type of nuclear fission reactor which are smaller than conventional reactors, manufactured at a plant and brought to a site to be fully constructed.
Rolls-Royce’s John Molyneux is a leading figure in SMR development. He believes in SMR ’s huge potential to strengthen the UK’s energy security. Find out more about the pros and cons of SMRs technologies and the associated risks and opportunities. He will cover the UK’s ambition to build one of the world’s first SMRs by the end of the 2020s, Rolls-Royce’s research and development agenda into SMRs and a summary of their proposed design.
