Philanthropy is not a new idea in Chinese culture, yet the effort in building a better society is now attracting new players, taking new forms, and addressing more unmet social needs in this rapidly-changing country. How is the government undergoing a re-positioning? Where are the successful businessmen and companies? What are the innovations from the grassroots organizations? This presenter will draw for you a brief picture of the current situation in China in answering the above questions, and share with you some personal experience with a web-based nationally-spreading charity programme called ‘1kg More’.
