Abstract
Sedimentology and stratigraphy play a major role in the development planning of complex oil fields. In this talk I will present a case study from the Rumaila field, Iraq, where the process of geological description was completed โfrom scratchโ with an unusually extensive dataset. After a year-long investigation, the major control on productivity was found to be sedimentological, directly impacting the future of the field for decades to come.
