Abstract
To realize true artificial intelligence, it is essential to make computers understand the meaning of text. A bottleneck in text understanding has been the lack of commonsense knowledge. However, in recent years, this situation has been changing by automatic knowledge acquisition from the Web and the wisdom of crowds. In this talk, I will introduce our recent approaches to knowledge acquisition mainly for Japanese and text analysis methods based on the acquired knowledge.
