Abstract
Join THIS Institute to learn about writing for publication about improving healthcare systems and processes. Led by Dr Louise Davies, Associate Professor, Geisel School of Medicine Department of Surgery and The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy & Clinical Practice, the seminar will take place on the Biomedical Campus Monday 30 April 1200 – 1300 and be followed by an informal lunch. No bookings required, all are welcome.
A separate practical, hands-on workshop on writing about improvement will take place 30 April 1345 – 1515. Booking is required and places are limited to 25. Dr Davies is a surgeon and researcher. Her academic appointments are with the Geisel School of Medicine Department of Surgery and The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy & Clinical Practice (TDI), both in Hanover, New Hampshire, USA . She was the Co-PI on the SQUIRE 2 .0 Publication Guidelines, for which she led the evaluation process that drove the revision work. She has practical experience in large scale quality improvement from her own workplace efforts to improve instrument sterilization and organization procedures for the operating room.
As a researcher, she has expertise in both qualitative and quantitative approaches. She is the director of the introduction to qualitative research methods course in Dartmouth’s public health program, and does research in cancer epidemiology, predominantly thyroid cancer. One of her broad interests is using qualitative approaches to bolster the value gained from numerical data in health services research and healthcare improvement projects.
