A new age in town building

Abstract
Over the past 5 years Ben has led design charrettes and teams for the master planning of new mixed use settlements to house over 100,000 people. One of the latest plans for the new town of Sherford, located in a beautiful valley east of Plymouth, is setting out to radically change the way new places are built. The outline planning application has been audited by the Building Research Establishment and scored the highest rating to date making it on paper the most sustainable new town to be built in Britain. Ben will explain the principles and process of this proposal and show other completed work to make the case for why this kind of approach is a necessity in an age of accelerated population growth, urban migration and global warming.
