Abstract

Join THIS Institute for an open talk by Justin Dimick, Professor of Surgery and Health Management & Policy at the University of Michigan. As part of his James IV Travelling Fellowship, designed to promote communication and collaboration in the surgical community, Justin will explore the trade-offs between mechanisms for improving patient outcomes as well as the gaps in our current approaches for improving patient outcomes in surgery.

Justin B. Dimick, MD, MPH is Professor of Surgery and Health Management & Policy at the University of Michigan. He serves as the Chief of the Division of Minimally Invasive Surgery and Associate Chair for Strategy & Finance. Dr Dimick also has an active research program and serves as Director of the Centre for Healthcare Outcomes & Policy. His research program includes 1) evaluating Medicare policy, including value-based purchasing, bundled payment programs, and accountable care organizations, and 2) implementation of large-scale quality improvement programs using video-based coaching to improve surgeon skill and technique.

The lecture will be followed by a networking reception with drinks & snacks from 1730 – 1830.
