Abstract
Anna Roberts, Director of Burma Campaign UK, will be talking about her campiagn for the protection of human right in Burma, including its successes and pit-falls.
The Burma Campaign UK is part of a global movement campaigning for human rights and democracy in Burma. Their campaigns aim to increase economic pressure on the regime by discouraging investment and tourism. They lobby the UK government and the European Union to increase political pressure on the regime. Burma Campaign UK presently supports campaigns such as Free Aung San Suu Kyi and Aid to Burma. This will be the perfect opportunity for those interested in the current debates surrounding Western involvement in Burma or human rights, to engage with a renowned campaign organisation in the field. There will be a question-and-answer session following Anna’s presentation.
