Abstract
Winton teatime discussion hosted by Jim Platts, Institute of Manufacturing, who has worked in industry and academia for a combined total of nearly 50 years in the area of design, development and manufacture of the large composite moulded blades for wind turbines.
The discussion with revolve around how an industry grows based on the assumption that completely unexpected problems always arise that threaten its long term viability. In the enthusiasm of a rapidly growing and seemingly very successful industry like the global wind industry, these problems can be not merely missed but actively ignored. But it is fatal to do so. There are things that concern the industry’s sustainability that need attention.
Refreshments will be available and all are welcome to join the discussion.
