Abstract
Skills: Keeping your data and communications private, Alastair Beresford and Brian Jones
This skills talk will describe some of the common ways in which your privacy can be compromised today and discuss some of the practical defence strategies you can take to keep your data and communications private. We will also report on the recent delivery of private browser data by BT, Virgin Media and TalkTalk to an advertising broker.
Research: Radio Propagation Modelling for Wireless Sensor Network Deployments, Yan Wu
To effectively deploy wireless sensor networks (WSNs) for monitoring and assessing the condition of tunnels, a Propagation Path Loss (PL) Model, which describes the power loss versus distance, is required. For most of the existing propagation measurements conducted in tunnels, the antennas have been positioned along the central axis of a tunnel. However this is not representative of most infrastructure monitoring applications where the wireless sensor nodes will be mounted on the walls of the tunnel. The following work has been carried out during our investigations:
- Field Measurements in Aldwych Tunnel - Close-to-Wall Antenna Deployment Discussion - 2D FDTD Segmented FDTD Method Proposal
