Abstract
In this talk, we discuss the relevance of DNG media to near-field microscopy. We introduced a novel mathematical model for the probe-target interaction and present a probe sensitivity definition. We show that by introducing a DNG medium between the probe and the target, not only would the evanescent energy interrogating the target increases, but more importantly, the probe sensitivity is increased. We demonstrate the potential for the DNG to increase the probe sensitivity by introducing several numerical experiments for different targets embedded inside a host medium. Finally, we show that the DNG increases the sensitivity of the probe up to a specific limit that depends on medium parameters.
