Abstract
This seminar will provide an overview of the development of a new constitutive model – HARM - aimed at capturing accumulated permanent deformation caused by repeated cyclic loads on a mechanical system.
The model itself has beed developed in general terms of “stress” and “strain” and could have a wide range of applicability. However, the initial motivation for this model development came from the analysis of monopile foundations for offshore wind turbines under lateral loading.
As a result, the seminar will cover: (i) The development steps of the model, and how it relates to monopile behaviour under cyclic loading (ii) A brief description of how the model could be used in industrial practice
The talk will also demonstrate how important accurate prediction of the monotonic behaviour is for cyclic behaviour. It will hence briefly present recent advances in modelling of monotonic loading for monopile foundations (the PISA project).
