Abstract
Over the last 25 years interest in using a stylus as an input device has waxed and waned. Currently the level of interest is increasing for both tablets and laptops. I will discuss some of the practical lessons from implementing stylus input in Chromebooks, advantages and disadvantages of different stylus technology, and why the standard being promoted by the Universal Stylus Initiative seems a good direction for the industry. (Since my area is hardware and low level software there will not be much discussion of use-cases or UI/UX requirements for stylus applications.)
