Abstract
Kira is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Media Law and Policy at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies at the University of Oxford. Her research explores how different internet ownership models enable or curtail the realization of a range of human rights, from the right to free expression to the right to free choice of work. She studies community-led autonomous solutions to internet access, and her work interrogates how corporations, governments, and individuals develop infrastructural, regulatory, and political answers to the digital divide. Kira’s research interests include the political economy of the internet, the materiality of the internet, and the environmental impact of digital technologies.
