Abstract
This is a fen recreation project, similar to the expansion of Wicken Fen and planned for the same reasons. Small wetland SSS Is are unsustainable in the middle of arable fields. The rich peat soils of surrounding fars are becoming worked out, and this area needs water storage areas which serve as flood defences. Large wildlife areas provide areas for walking and nature study, while creating work in management of the reserve and the provision of services for tourism.
