Abstract
Abstract: Synapse development requires precise coordination of numerous molecules acting in a highly spatially and temporally controlled manner. While many molecules have been identified to regulate synapse development, how different proteins work in concert to control synapse formation remains largely unclear. Our recent work has demonstrated novel function of cell surface molecules in inhibitory synapse formation and revealed a general framework for inhibitory synaptogenesis. These findings contribute towards a better understanding of synapse development and the molecular pathologies of brain disorders.
